Hi, I’m Scott, lead guide at Bow River Fly Fishing Company.

During the guide season we get asked about the flies we use on the Bow River. I don’t tie my own bugs, I purchase them in bulk from overseas. At least, I buy my basic patterns in bulk. Yes, I still purchase plenty of flies at my local shop because sometimes the trout just decide I need a different bug they can play with.

I decided to offer some basic bulk patterns and a few not so common flies to our guests and customers. These are the flies I use while guiding and find success with. I’m a big believer in fishing with confidence over what bug I’ve got at the end of the string, but I definitely pay more attention when I’ve got a fly I like down there. When the tug is expected and that makes me fish better.

A little about the offer:

These are guide flies. They’re not keepsakes. (Although, If I net a PB and destroy the fly, it goes in my hat) These bugs are meant to be used and abused. I’m a big fan of having plenty of confidence flies in the box and I’m not shy about losing them in tight casting lanes or on the bottom. Fish hard, flies are disposable tools. For that reason, I’m offering packages only at good price points. A basic pattern priced right just makes sense to me as a guide and an angler.

All flies offered are in stock and ready to ship as they are presented. I’m not a full service fly retailer. There will be changes to the packages from time to time but the packages are not available for substitutions. This keeps back end costs low and efficiency high. There is no corporate entity here, just your friendly outfitter with some mood music, a coffee and boxes of flies he needs to get out the door.
